Brno's transport backbone is the dense network of trams and trolleybuses that thread the historic core and reach every residential hill. A rechargeable BrnoCard or the PID Lítačka app covers both and is the single smartest purchase you'll make, tap once and ride. Topping up online saves the queue at the yellow machines. Buses fill the gaps after midnight when the trams thin out. But daytime visitors rarely need them. From Brno-Tuřany Airport, public bus E76 runs to the main railway station in about twenty minutes and costs a fraction of a taxi fare; it's the default choice unless you land after service ends. Outside those hours the official taxi rank is the only honest option, ignore the unmarked cars that circle the terminal and insist on the meter. If you're staying central, most hotels sit within a five-minute walk of a tram stop, so dragging luggage onto the E76 is usually faster than sitting in rush-hour traffic.
