Helpful Tips
Grab a 24-hour ticket from the yellow machines at any tram stop. It gives unlimited rides on DPMB trams and buses. No fuss. Just tap and ride all day.
Download the PIDíky app before you arrive. Buy digital tickets and plot routes on Brno's public transport network. It saves time and paper.
Hop on Tram 1. It links the main train station to the city center in under 10 minutes. Service is frequent. No long waits.
Need a ride after midnight? The E76 night bus runs hourly from 00:30-04:30. Regular trams stop operating then. Plan ahead.
Common Scams to Avoid
Unofficial taxi drivers inside the terminal approach arrivals claiming the public taxi rank is closed or has long queues. Insist on using the clearly marked official taxi rank outside the terminal where metered vehicles queue in an orderly line.
Some airport shuttle drivers quote a flat rate to city hotels that is significantly higher than the metered fare. Confirm the pricing method before boarding and ask to see the official rate card displayed in the vehicle.
Currency-exchange kiosks in the arrivals hall advertise 'no commission' but use a markedly poorer exchange rate than city-center banks. Compare the offered rate against the mid-market rate on your phone and walk to an ATM or downtown exchange if the gap is wide.
